Super Contra!
I cam across this post today on Samurai Games, thats the name we used to call them in Bhilai too (my hometown in India). The rate was 10 bucks an hour or 100 bucks a day, 15 bucks for an extra game cartridge. Dad didnt get us one of our own till I cleared Xth Std. and got that as a prize for my efforts.
Its been ages that I shifted to PC games, RTS (Real Time Strategy) and RPG (Role Playing Games) genres being my favorites, and I have seen the improvement in the multimedia content which has brought the gaming experiences in UT2k4 and Doom III to a mindblowing level. Yet, when you ask me what is my favorite game, I’d still say it was Contra.

I used to cheat and boost upto 30 lives and go all out on thouse buggers, later I remember I could do it in the default 3 lives.. I cant remember why I stopped playing it, probably it was becoz my kid brother could finish it in 1 life only
JP points out here a resource for Nintendo Emulators for PC , must find time to do it…

Hi,
I am originally from bhilai. I used to live in nehru nagar.
i was searching for dps bhilai pics and came across your older blog page where i saw you dam picnic pic. I also had gone to a similar picnic when i was in dps bhilai. I think the name of that dam was bhakra nangal something dam.
I also was creazy about samurai gmaes. The first game I ever played on samurai was super mario bros. and legend of zelda. Both were awesome
games. I would play them for hours every day.
I still play them on an emulator on my PC.
Your post about nostalgia brings my own memories. I remmeber playing cricket in the nehru nagar park all day long and then playing monopoly.
I also remember reading diamond pics and amar chitra katha. chacha chowdhry, fauladi singh, tauji, pinki, babloo were my favorites.
there was this apna pustakalay library in sector 6 and sector 10. I also used to buy comics from this comic store in sector 10. I think it is still there.
I also remember this great chaat walah at sector 4. He was still there when I went there in 2003.
Maitri bagh, buddha gardens… wonderful memories….
I joined DPS bhilai when it was first started in 1986 in class 4 and left in 1992 when i shifted to delhi.
I went back to bhilai for a few weeks in 2003. Here are the snaps taken during that time. http://www.geocities.com/nirjhar_jain/bhilai/thumbnails.html
